Providing Incredible Expeditions |
Health, Safety, and Our Philosophy
At Extremely Patagonia we take your health and safety very seriously. It is important to note that mountaineering, kayaking, trekking, and all outdoor activities have inherent risks. This is part of what makes the outdoors such a special place; its unpredictability. As such, risk management is at the forefront of everything we do, and it shows.
Our impeccable safety record exists not because of luck or because our trips are tame. Rather, it is a testament to our level of preparation, the quality of our guides, and our conservative nature when it comes to decision making in the backcountry. Make no mistake; we take people a LONG way off the beaten track, often days or more from a hospital. It is because of this that our attention to risk management is so thorough.
Risk management isn't static or "one size fits all." We develop a thorough risk management plan for each of our expeditions, and are constantly refining these plans based on the input of our guides and clients.
This constant revision is backed up by our unsurpassed experience in Patagonia. Our logistics coordinators have been running expeditions here for more than 15 years each. Our guides are all fully qualified and are hand picked from the best in the industry. We are the only WMO certified Wilderness Medicine Training Center in South America. We make it a priority to learn as much as we can about the backcountry, and are working to stay at the forefront of our industry. In short, we are and will continue to be among the best guiding outfits in the world.
Our experience shows in all facets of what we do. Feel free to research our reputation. Speak to some of our past clients. You'll find we are very good at what we do.
Our Educational Philosophy
At Extremely Patagonia we don't guide you through the wilderness; we teach you to do it for yourself. We feel that, in order to really understand and cherish the wilderness, one must understand how to live and thrive in the wilderness. It is our goal to help you learn to care for yourself and the environment. After all, the wilderness isn't just a place we visit. It's our home. And we hope that you feel the same way after your Extremely Patagonia expedition.
This is not to say that huts, porters, and trails don't have their place. They open the backcountry up to people that would otherwise be unable to experience the joys of staring up at a mountain peak or seeing a deer in a meadow. However, there is more to be gained for those few who are willing to work a bit harder. If you're the kind of person who doesn't mind a little challenge in order to obtain the huge rewards of a remote wilderness experience, then come join us.
You Can Do Extraordinary Things.
